Caveman Otis

We paid a visit to Luray Caverns in Virginia, home of the Stalacpipe Organ, which was the topic of a heated dispute over whether or not the sounds we heard were actually being produced by the tiny hammers striking the meticulously filed stalactites, as the guide claimed. Kurt Hoffman (above, left) was somewhat credulous, while Mr. Linnell denounced the Organ as a fraud. Also pictured, between Kurt and Mr. Flansburgh, is Otis Ball, who traveled with us and had the best tapes.
